Social Work Appreciation Day at Petco Park

Charlene Autolino, Amy Vance and Tiffany Swan attend the 7th Annual Social Work Appreciation Day at Petco Park. Autolino and Vance sat on the panel to discuss 12 Grand Challenges for Social Work.

They advocated for social equality and achieving equal opportunity and justice for individuals with disabilities. They both were strong advocates for employment and financial stability creates strong productive adults – regardless of disability. Autolino told a personal story of her nephew being competitively employed and how it has changed his life. She also reminded the attendees that individuals who are labeled disabled are instead — differently-abled.

Each year, October is designated as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) to recognize and celebrate the diversity and talent people with disabilities bring to the workforce across our nation every day. NDEAM is also a time when we renew our commitment to ensuring that all people have equal opportunities at work, regardless of disability.
